Friday Favorites: New Edition (and branches of) songs

I didn’t know much about New Edition growing up except that they were from Boston. All five original members (Ralph, Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky & Mike) were from Roxbury, MA. I knew probably one song and never really got into them, as they were a little before my time. But occasionally, I’d hear other NE songs and realize how good they were. It might be too extreme to say they were the 1980s version of the Jackson 5, but they definitely appeared that way around Boston… What spawned from the group was a few solo careers (Bobby Brown & Ralph Tresvant) and another R&B group (Bell Biv DeVoe).

If you are new to the songs below or reminiscing, I suggest watching the BET movie on New Edition.

5. Mr. Telephone Man – New Edition

4. My Prerogative – Bobby Brown

3. Cool It Now – New Edition

2. Candy Girl – New Edition

  1. Poison – Bell Biv DeVoe
